Welcome!
God is with us! We walk with Christ serving not being served
Thank you for visiting us here online. I hope you will find this mean of communication helpful to find what you would like to know. We are not perfect and we are open to hear from you if what you were looking for is not here so we can make this site even better. We are a new Catholic parish in Logan Square with two churches, Our Lady of Grace and St. Sylvester. These two churches used to be parishes by themselves but through the Renew My Church process in 2021 we decided to come together and form one parish with two worship sites. This mean we combined our finances and have one staff serving both churches. We have two Catholic schools under each church supported by Big shoulder funds and Archdiocese of Chicago. Logan Square has changed and is continuing to change and so are we! Our mission is to make missionary disciples. We do these by answering the call of Jesus who said; “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you came to visit me”.(Mathew 25:35-40) As we focus on evangelization we shall make missionary disciples who actively and joyfully make Jesus present through serving. The way we worship will continue to evolve while preserving our deep traditions of being Catholic. The celebration of Eucharist remains the center of everything we do. We believe in God who is present with us. Emanuel; which mean God is with us. Learning from our history God has worked closely with his people like Moses, Mary, and all the saints to save his people. He is now walking and working through us. As a parish we are focusing in good celebrations of mass, rosary, adoration and church sacraments as it is a way of celebrating God presence in our lives. People who have good connection with Jesus answer best the call of Jesus. We do not make it up as we go but we answer the call of Jesus who continues to be with us. I am a very happy Catholic missionary disciple. I am humbled that the Lord has called me to shepherd this parish and I find strength in knowing he is walking with me. As you join us remember the Lord is calling you to do something for his mission. We are called to be missionary disciples. I look forward to walking with you as the Lord is walking with others. God bless you, Rev. Samson Ngatia Mukundi |
